Interesting in building (first build) a 9 foot spinning rod for Silver salmon fishing in Alaska. The 2 blanks that looked most appropriate for me were:

RX7 1025 (IST1025F)

and

RX7 1085 (IST1085F)

The confusion is that both of these appear to be casting blanks and I want to build a spinning rod to replace my old Cabelas rod. Maybe I am reading the tables wrong but I could use some guidance. Will these blanks be appropriate for a spinning rod?

Appreciate any insight here.

First of all, I have to thank Bill (Batson) in a big way. He was kind and generous enough to donate the components for this build. I was asked if I could build a rod for the Sheckler Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament Auction coming up in October. The Sheckler Foundation was created by Ryan Sheckler (well known skateboarder) to help injured and disabled kids. I like building rods for various organizations, especially stuff for kids or military, but it gets quite expensive because I usually just buy the parts myself. So, I got a hold of Bill (with my tail between my legs) and asked him if he would want to contribute to the build. His response was "tell me what you want and I'll make it happen." I thought that was incredibly nice of him to do that. I gave him the component list and got the stuff in like 3 days. He was even out of stock on one of the regular Alps silver reel seats and gave me the upgraded version with side cutout and carbon fiber. Batson Rainshadow RCLB70ML (7' 20-40 lb.), Alps polished guides and top, bitchin' Alps reel seat, hypalon grips, Alps gimbal. Fun little build, hope it generates some dinero for the kids. The event isn't until the middle of October so I'll have this one at the rod show. Thanks Bill, you definitely made it happen. Randy.
